Dr. Ogata’s vision is to improve and enhance the vision of others. She enjoys primary care optometry to diagnose, treat, and manage ocular diseases such as cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. She provides myopia control treatments to slow the progression of myopia (near-sightedness) in children.
Dr. Ogata earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree from University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry, and completed her Bachelors of Science at University of California, Los Angeles. She held externships at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the VA Portland Health Care System. After working in Portland, Oregon for a few years, Dr. Ogata is excited to be back in sunny Southern California and grateful to continue on her mother's legacy at Los Alamitos Optometry.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Dr. Sharon Yamanaka has passed away from cancer.
Since opening Los Alamitos Optometry in 1989, she strived to provide the highest quality eye care while forming meaningful relationships with her patients. Her unwavering dedication and compassion combined with her lively spirit have left an indelible mark on the practice and the lives of the patients she served.
In this time of transition, we are pleased to inform you that Dr. Yamanaka’s daughter, Dr. Lauren Ogata, will be taking over the practice. With a commitment to upholding the same standard of excellence and personalized care, Dr. Ogata is dedicated to continuing her mother’s legacy.
We thank you for your trust in our practice and your respect for the family’s privacy as we work to create a seamless transition. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your understanding and loyalty during this challenging time.
